Biography
David Driesbach, PMP, PMI PMOCP is a higher education and organizational transformation leader with more than 20 years of experience building institutional capabilities and turning complex strategies into sustainable results.
As Assistant Vice President for Research at Florida International University (FIU), David has been a key leader in the university’s transformation over the past two decades, helping build the infrastructure, systems, processes, and organizational capabilities that supported FIU’s emergence as an R1 research institution, significant growth in research, and rise in national rankings and prominence. He has led more than 60 major initiatives spanning research and financial infrastructure, information management, enterprise technology, analytics, faculty success, organizational design, governance, and strategic execution. This includes helping transform how FIU connects and uses institutional information through initiatives such as the Faculty Success Initiative and FIU Discovery, FIU’s platform for connecting the university’s expertise and scholarly activity with the world.
Building on this foundation, David’s work increasingly focuses on AI enabled transformation and how organizations can rethink operations, decision making, capabilities, and the future of work. Nationally, he co leads the Researcher Profile Optimization Study (RPOS) with the Federal Demonstration Partnership and has served as co lead of the EDUCAUSE Research Computing and Data Community. Earlier experience with Accenture, FedEx Express Latin America & Caribbean, and IBM further shapes his approach to transformation and organizational excellence.

David serves as President Elect of PMI South Florida and is an active Rotarian with the Worldwide Passport Club. Passionate about bringing people and organizations together around a shared purpose, he is working to advance a vision for project excellence across South Florida, connecting businesses, universities, professional associations, nonprofits, government, and community organizations while creating pathways for students and the next generation of leaders to play an active role. Through stronger connections across the region, he hopes to turn ideas into results, develop future leaders, and create lasting impact across South Florida.
