Title
Global Impact, Local Leadership: Introducing Rotary District 6990 to the PMI South Florida Community
Abstract
Rotary International is one of the world’s largest and most respected service organizations, bringing together over 1.4 million members in more than 46,000 clubs across 200+ countries and territories. For over a century, Rotary has driven sustainable change through seven key areas of focus—including economic development, environmental sustainability, peacebuilding, disease prevention, and mental health. Through this global network, Rotary empowers professionals to apply their skills in ways that create meaningful, lasting impact.
Here in Southeast Florida, Rotary District 6990 encompasses over 50 clubs and nearly 1,800 members, spanning Miami-Dade, Broward, the Florida Keys, and Grand Bahama Island. The district is recognized for leadership in initiatives such as coral reef restoration, microfinance, and other service projects that extend from our neighborhoods to global communities. District 6990 leaders are also deeply engaged in the Rotary Action Group for Community Economic Development (RAGCED), advancing entrepreneurship and sustainable solutions worldwide.
Rotary also invests in the next generation of leaders through Interact (high school) and Rotaract (university and young professionals), empowering youth across South Florida to develop leadership skills, champion service, and launch transformative projects in their schools and communities.
This presentation will feature Past District Governors Peter Verbeek, Dennis Caltagirone, and Joseph “Joe” Schumacker, along with District Secretary Laura Dobrzanski, sharing how project management fuels Rotary’s most impactful initiatives.
